In the news this week:
The iconic Spinnaker Tower celebrates its 20th anniversary this Saturday, 18th October. Since opening in 2005, its been one of the most recognisable landmark across the South Coast, with millions of visitors visiting to enjoy beautiful views acorss Portsmouth and the Solent. The public is now being invited to share fond memories and pictures of the tower being built. Send these by email to [email protected] or tag Spinnaker Tower on social media using #Spinnaker20. Your photos & stories might be featured as part of a special exhibition on the Tower’s main deck throughout October!
It feels like we write a lot about council surveys, polls, and everything in between. Well, here’s another one. The Hilsea Lido is making a comeback! & you’re needed to help shape its future. The current plan is for the Lido to be a round the year hub for health, wellbeing, and community, with plans for a pop-up sauna, food and drinks and year round access to the unheated pool. Spinnaker Tower was lit in pink and blue colours on Wednesday to mark the end of the Baby Loss Awareness Week, a national campaign to support those affected by the loss of a baby. It is estimated that 1 in 2 people are touched by baby loss in some way. The Pink and Blue lights on Spinnaker Tower served as a quiet but an hopefully impactful reminder that no one walks through grief alone. If you’ve been or know someone affected by this, stay strong, you are not alone. 💙💗
