It’s yet another Thursday! It’s Friday, apologies for this coming a day later than usual. Writing this every week while juggling work and family, and taking orders from a 3-month-old boss is an art I haven’t quite mastered yet. Fingers crossed I get there soon.

In the news this week:
With the fewest potholes per 100km of road, Portsmouth has been recognised as the UK’s top performing area for road quality, according to a research by Blackcircles. Using FOI requests and driver surveys, Portsmouth is said to have the equivalent of just 26 potholes for every 100km road, making us 1 of 1 in the UK. You can report potholes here or through the My Portsmouth app
Portsmouth has been selected to join the first wave of the National Neighborhood Health Implementation Programme, a new initiative from NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care. This will help to deliver neighborhood health systems that will better meet the needs of locals.
The City Council is said to formally reject Local Government Reorganisation plans, with the council’s proposed response to be made in a letter from the Council Leader to the Secretary of State for Housing for them to leave Portsmouth alone. This is hoping they do!
A by-election for Paulsgrove Ward will take place on Thursday 23rd October due to the resignation of the former sitting councillor. Nominations are now open until next week, Friday 26th. See more and key dates for voters here
And for the derby, after the goalless draw, two things: 1. the mighty Pompey were unlucky to walk away from St Mary’s with just a point on Sunday & 2. Will Still can do with a lesson or two on showing some class. Watch the highlights here
