It’s yet another Thursday Friday. The last two newsletters have had to be sent on Friday just because of how busy I am and how much time it takes to put this together. This might continue for a while, but we promise it will always come early enough so you still have time to put your plans together. Appreciate all the positive feedback, It’s always nice to hear!

In the news this week:
The City Council’s very popular 60+ festival is back! It starts on Monday 29th Spetember and will run till Friday 10th October. For anyone 60+, the festival is an opportunity to try something different, learn new skills or meet people. You can enjoy a range of activities inluding cooking, ballet, guitar lessons, and talks including one about the D-Day and a Find my Past workshop. Get the online brochure here or pick a physical copy at any of the city libraries
Following the success of ApolloDome’s Pumpkinville, Gunwharf is due to welcome its own Christmasville in time for the end of year festivities beginning November 15. Immerse yourself in experiences such as The Elf Emporium, The Pine Picturehouse (showing classic Christmas movies), The Bauble Bar (offering festive themed food & drinks) amongst other festive themed activites. Tickets go on sale on September 30. Details are here
We reported in July that the Baton of Hope (UK’s biggest suicide prevention initiative) would make a stop in Portsmouth. Well, today’s the day the Baton lands in Portsmouth. It will make its first stop at Mick’s Monster Burgers before slowly making its way through various iconic Pompey spots to raise awareness and spark hope. It will be carried by 105 local bearers who have been personally impacted by suicide.
In 2026, Portsmouth will celebrate 100 years since it gained its city status. Starting January 1, Portsmouth100 will be launched as a year-long celebration of Portsmouth’s heritage, communities and its future. Whether you’re a resident or a visitor, you will have a chance to explore, connect, and celebrate everything that makes our city extraordinary! Keep an eye out next year, as always we will try and bring you as much to get involved in!
